The Journey

Things that Should Not Be Seen

I discovered, today, what is meant when a dermatologist speaks of doing a full body scan. If you ever hear one say those words, take the “full body” part literally. The nurse left nothing to the imagination when she pointed to the “open-in-the-back gown and told me to remove ALL my clothing (even my socks) and slip the gown on, “I’ll let the doctor know and SHE will be in soon.” Well THAT was a curve ball! What ensued was a detailed examination of all of me by only the fourth woman to ever see things of mine that should not ordinarily be seen; My mother, my girlfriend, a woman urologist I met last year, and now this young woman who looked young enough to be my grand-daughter! She took four biopsies of spots I didn’t even know I had! And now we set the timer for 2-3 weeks to find out what they show, or don’t show.

My girlfriend casually mentioned that this was the first day in a week that I did not receive a card in the mail. We are so thankful for the cards containing words of love and encouragement. But while not receiving a card I did receive a phone call with news of additional blessings.

I’ve been listening to some classical music on You Tube of late. Today, I listened to Rimsky Korsakov’s Scheherazade. It is one of the classics that usually moves me to tears in the final movement. If you haven’t heard it … I recommend it to you! HERE IS A LINK.

No suggestions for the name of my tumor yet. I’m considering HECTOR since that is what it is trying to do to me!

Praising the Lord today for the love and care of friends and family … and for His plan for me, whatever it is, for I know if must be for His glory and my good!
