No News, Good News

I have heard from several who have told me that they miss the regular health updates … and it’s only been two days since I left the hospital! A hearty thank-you goes out to all who have been praying us through this most recent medical journey that began on February 12. At this point, medically speaking, life has returned to the boring routine of my new normal! I’ve been sentenced to 4-6 weeks of a low-fiber diet to assist my bowel in healing. I’ve lost 16 lbs since Feb 12 … at this rate, in two months I will have lost another 40 lbs and will have to toss all my clothes and get new ones … the alternative is too horrible to contemplate.

I get my second Immunotherapy infusion on Tuesday of this week. There are still miles to go before we sleep (metaphorically speaking). I will keep the blog/fb readers apprised of any new development but until something noteworthy happens there will not be any further health updates.

Today was a wonderful day with Charissa and her family. I love my daughter and son-in-law for the love and care they show. Finn helped me learn to play The Oregon Trail, after Ryan helped get it installed on my computer. Lucy is a sweet girl and makes me laugh with her good natured humor! Margo gives the greatest hugs and I told her today that if she would just stay with us and gave me several hugs during each day I think I could throw all my medications away! We had a great time playing Telestrations. It’s hilarious and I enjoyed watching Charissa being overcome in gales of laughter. Ryan and I played magnetic chess while we talked about serious things. It was SUCH A GREAT DAY!

Random Thot: Mercy Hospital has a small crucifix on the wall of each of the patient rooms. When I was a pastor, and visited church folk at Mercy, some of my folk would ask me to take the crucifix down and place it in a drawer because of our focus on the EMPTY cross and a RISEN Savior, and not one with the Savior’s body still hanging on it. I thought of that as I settled in to my room this past week. I almost took it down … but did not. Instead, I used it to remind me of the infinitely greater suffering which Jesus endured for me … than any suffering I might experience in this life.

I’ve been overwhelmed by circumstances and distracted from my reading of 5 Psalms a day. I’ll be getting back to that. Posts will still come, but not with as great an intensity as long as things remain fairly steady.

Please do continue praying! I love you all!

THANK YOU HANNH for the wonderful card and the blessing it brought to my day!
