Nuthin’s Ever Easy
March 7, 2014
I’ve long said that the corollary to Jeske’s Law is the simple maxim: “Nuthin’s ever easy.” At least it never seems that way to me. So much so that I’m always surprised when something goes smoothly, or works just the way it’s supposed to work. I’m hardly ever surprised though!
I’ve been wanting to take my blog and enhance it with some other features, incorporating The Jeweled Page on e-bay as well as our shop on Etsy. My girlfriend is working on spreading her wings by selling Norwex home cleaning and personal care products and she has started her fledgling business called “Elbow Grease”
It would be nice to have an on-line home for all of these ventures in one place and so I’ve determined that place and decided to begin by migrating this blog to the new place. The initial instructions say “one click” installation. I never believed that to begin with so I was not surprised when it only one click to “start” it, but it required several more clicks. The export/import process was also supposed to be easy and it was. The problem is that it only exported half of the blog database. Technical support has given me a list of more than 20 steps to take on my next attempt. I think if I start now, at 8:30 pm, I may be finished before tomorrow afternoon! And that is only provided everything works like it’s supposed to and we already know that ain’t gonna happen? So if the next time you visit things look screwy or altogether different, please know that I’m working on it … or perhaps it will be working on me. In either case, we’ll figure it out.
So why put myself through this terrible process and stress? Perhaps because I’m a nincompoop! Perhaps because I really do crave punishment. Perhaps because I believe it’s more efficient to consolidate things into one place and that doing so will make it easier in the long run; there’s that word again … “easy”. Nuthin’s ever easy. Perhaps one day I will accept that graciously but until then …
