Painter’s Helper
March 9, 2014
For quite some time now, Linda has had an “itch” for painting the walls in several of the rooms in our home. I think it a wonderful idea except for the fact that I hate painting and am a messy painter to boot. Well, as good fortune would have it, we acquired a son-in-law a few years ago who apparently doesn’t mind wielding a brush and roller. Ryan is coming, accompanied by Charissa and little Lucy. Monday and Tuesday will find a fresh coat of sawdust in the Kitchen and Dining room, and Whispering Pine in the Living room and hallway. Ordinarily, Linda would not be happy with having sawdust in the Kitchen and Dining room. I know this by first hand experience. As long as it is on the walls and not the floor, however, I guess she won’t mind.
There’s more to this project for me than I bargained for. I thought it would be fun to watch Ryan paint. What I didn’t count on was the work needed to remove the wallpaper in the kitchen! I had been told it was an easy task with the right tools and the wallpaper removal gel. I was easily fooled, because it is not easy. Before all is said and done, it may well be that we’ll find it easier to set the tools aside and scrape it off with our fingernails.
I am looking forward, however, to watching the little painter’s helper. I purchased a small brush and roller yesterday with her in mind. I hope her mommy will let Grampy show her how to paint! The only problem I see with that idea is that if she learns to paint from Grampy, she will grow up to be a messy painter! 🙂
