PO 14 Days

PO 14 days and after two consecutive days, during which my girlfriend was out of town on day trips, my official diagnosis is: SURVIVED. Hairy Potter and I worked well together. I managed to walk around with the cane (mostly) and the walker (some) … and Hairy watched and jumped our from around corners to swat at the cane or walker legs. I managed to get to the refrigerator and get my pre-made ham and cheese sandwiches, chocolate chip cookies and grapes for lunch … and Hairy tried to eat my sandwich from one end while I ate it from the other. I tried to do some computer work and Hairy usually laid on the keyboard. I managed to get to the freezer to retrieve the frozen bottles of water for the ice therapy machine … and Hairy climbed in the freezer before I could get it shut. I managed to get to the bathroom several times using the cane and Hairy ALWAYS followed me and put his paws up on the rim of the toilet to watch. I dutifully did my exercises by the kitchen sink and Hairy was always there, wanting me to turn on the faucet so he could play in the water. I managed to get into the bedroom to do my lying down exercises and Hairy lay next to me and watched. Upon finishing my exercises and starting my 30 minute rest period … Hairy snuggled next to me with his head on my shoulder, stuck his four paws up in the air … and rested too! He’s such a good boy and I couldn’t have made it without him!

All in all, it was a good week and while Hairy was of great assistance,, I am so glad that my girlfriend is home again!

Over the last two or three days, my knee condition has improved noticeably. After some pain meds this morning at 7:00, I went through the day today without any pain meds until about 4pm. The pain that I do have is more the type associated with nerve pain than muscle … and that makes sleeping comfortably a little different than it was. Having my skin in contact with anything … including the bed … is irritating.

Tuesday I will start out-patient physical therapy 3 times a week to begin with. I’m pleased with my progress to date and it seems as though I’m further ahead in the game than I was on the other knee at this time.

Has anyone else noticed that all the doorways in the house are wide enough for the walker to go through EXCEPT the most important one? …. the BATHROOM!? What’s with that anyway?
