Pot-pourri, Slice of Life

LYFT Notes: Random and Serious

While driving today, these random thoughts occurred to me:

  1. A large number of people can be found shoveling snow in their pajamas … some of them … just shouldn’t!
  2. Some people appear to be as meticulous in the neatness of their shoveled snow as they are about their spring and summer yard grooming.
  3. A heavy overnight fog, combined with sub-freezing temperatures creates a Narnia-like effect on the trees and shrubbery … it’s like being transported to an enchanted realm.

In a more serious vein, over the last few days I have observed how many quadruped life-forms there are around us that we would never be aware of except for the trails they leave in the new fallen snow during and after a storm. They pass by on a regular basis and we never see them, but in the snow they leave evidence of their passage; a silent testimony to simply say “I was here”.

It is the same with us bipedal parents, grand-parents, mentors and teachers. Our silent influence as we walk in and out, and through, the lives of those with whom we have to do leaves, perhaps, unseen tracks that are only seen in the midst and after the storms of life. Be it good or bad, there can be seen a silent testimony to the fact that “We were here!”. What sort of tracks are you leaving by your passage through the lives of those whom you love and with whom you have to do each day?
