On The Road …
November 22, 2020
He drives a truck over the road. He has a “cheating old lady” at home in Kentucky, with whom he has been with for 10 years … in a common law relationship. During the 15 minute ride he recited a litany of reasons why he has decided to leave her and start his life over again, perhaps in a cabin in the woods of Colorado … alternating with reasons why he could not leave her and how hard it would be to start again.
It was a sad amalgamation of contradictions that prompted me to ask him if he had any thing for which he was thankful in this season of Thanksgiving. “Nothing at all.”, he said. I asked if he had a Bible, to which he responded “I keep one on the dashboard of my truck” I encouraged him to find some time to read the first few chapters of the Gospel of John and to remember my promise to pray that in doing so he would find something for which to be thankful. He said he would do that … and handed me a 10.00 tip as he left the vehicle.
Perhaps you will remember to pray for Jason as he finds his way to San Antonio … and then Pittsburgh … and perhaps back to Kentucky.
