Florida Dreamin’….
April 23, 2020
There is talk of six inches of snow in the forecast for this week. Linda and I will leave on the heels of it for the warmer climes of the Florida coast. There, I have rented a condominium, in Daytona Beach where we will stay for nine days. I’ll be watching the weather reports for Dubuque so that we can daily appreciate fully the blessing of having the opportunity to be in Florida.
We are looking forward to a mostly unstructured time of lazing around, a little site-seeing and some charter fishing in the coastal waters. There is an unknown factor, however. Jeske’s Law requires it. I’ve sustained an injury to the bottom of my right foot and have been given a boot to wear to help in the healing process. The foot actually seems to be healing with the tender care I’ve been giving it but I’m taking the boot to Florida just as a precaution. The boot was prescribed after two days of walking like Frankenstein didn’t help. I couldn’t get the stiff arm extended in front of me down very well.
The boot will get me on the plane early … and a ride to the gate and the car rental place when we arrive. Driving is not a problem … but I’m hoping to be able to walk about without discomfort … else I will have to clomp around in this piece of hardware that needs a garage for storage.
On a sad note … this is the first time we will have been away for an extended period of time in over 18 years without having to arrange for someone to check in on our furry child.
