Just Me, God … and the Birds!

I got up at 6 am this morning and walked three blocks to the Gulf Coast to watch the sun rise in the southern sky. While I waited I spent some time reading and praying. At one point I heard a guttural croaking sound and looked up to see a large bird with a needle point beak flying by along the water’s edge. I croaked back at it and it landed about 200 feet down the beach from me and began walking back as I continued to croak. I then noticed that there were additional birds joining and after about 5 minutes of this I was surrounded by 9 or 10 of them … and a few smaller birds as well. It actually was a little intimidating (if they decided to attack me I was going to be skewered in a number of places) but amusing as well. They appeared to be quite curious.

Good morning!

I took a video of the lot of them and put it on facebook … I think that link will work …. I saw a lot of these holes in the sand … and wondered what had gone in … or come out?

Returning to the house after an hour and a half on the beach I found my girlfriend up and about and we went shopping for groceries and miscellany at the WalMart in Bradenton. We had breakfast at the in-store McDonalds where we met a kindly man who struck up a conversation with: “Isn’t it wonderful that we are all part of the body of Christ?” I replied, “well, we are not ALL part of the body of Christ. It’s only those who have placed their faith in Christ as Savior.” At that point he acknowledged that truth and told us he had trusted Christ at the age of 19. He’s now a deacon in his church and loves serving the Lord and telling people about him. We enjoyed several moments of brotherly fellowship before the next customer came along.

We went with the entire crowd (six kids and eight adults) back to the beach this morning and played in the sand … and water. I borrowed a hat from Melissa … making a mental note not to puke in it since it was made of straw! It would leak! … I think it becomes me!
