He Doesn’t Know What You are Doing!

He’s watching you!

I was amazed as I listened to local radio programming while cleaning the garage one day last week. (Note: I have a radio playing 24/7 in my garage since I read that it drives the spiders nuts and keeps them from constructing webs near the radio. So, I put the radio on the wall over the tool/work bench and have a spider-web free work space. It works!!! Apparently the sound waves from the radio disturb the spiders, and their webs enough … like seismic waves … that the spiders feel unwelcome and do not settle. I’ve been web free for several years now!) Anyway, the radio program focused on an interview with a local religious leader who was touting the various and sundry events being sponsored by her particular organization. One of the events was a gathering of people for a time of purposeful prayer. In the course of the discussion the statement was made, regarding the importance of purposeful and directed prayer. It is essential because “God does not know what we are up to unless we tell Him in prayer.”

If that is true, then God is not as great as Santa Claus! I don’t know anyone who prays to Santa and yet, supposedly, Santa “knows if you’ve been bad or good”.

Prayer is certainly an essential discipline of the spiritual life but it is a perverted understanding of God that causes one to believe that God doesn’t know what is happening to us unless we remember to tell Him.

With that sort of sound waves coming from the radio, it is no wonder the spiders don’t stick around. If I were a spider, I wouldn’t either! The only reason I did remain was because I was not finished cleaning the garage!
