Help Me Choose My Glasses
April 17, 2014
I began wearing glasses when I was about 10 years old. I hated them. I only had one bad eye at the time and 20/20 in the other one. I remember that the eye doctor asked me if I wanted a monocle since I only needed one lens. I thought about it for about three seconds and then opted for some grey plastic frames that made me look totally nerdy. I wore glasses for the next 45 years, eventually needing a weak lens in the eye that had been previously good. When I was 55, I went to get my driver’s license and the clerk tested my eyes and told me I had 20/20 vision, and removed the eyeglass restriction from my license. I had noticed before then that my sight was far better without the glasses than with them. For the last 10 years I have had no spectacles … well … not on my face anyway.
Over the last year or so I’ve noticed that age appears to be catching up with me and so I’ve yielded to my body’s signals and have had my eyes checked again for glasses. I need them …. but just a little bit stronger (not much) than they were ten years ago. It’s hard admitting that I need glasses after my temporary “miraculous” healing of my eyes. Doc says that it’s uncommon but not entirely unheard of. The other odd thing … I’m nearsighted in one eye … and farsighted in the other. How’s that for eccentric.
Well all of that is the easy part. The hard part is picking out appropriate style. I can get them fairly reasonably so I’m going to opt for two different styles … that way I can be Jekyll and Hyde 🙂
I’d welcome your suggestions and opinions. I’ve selected 10 possibilities and have included them below. Let me know what you think … seriously! 🙂 (use the numbers in upper right corner of each pic to let me know your favorites.
BTW: My sweetheart reserves the right to veto the results of the vote 🙂

April 18, 2014 at 6:05 amI like 478921 best. I too have worn glasses since I was 10…. husband has only needed them in later years (very similar to you – he wore one contact for quite a while years ago) with hardly any correction, until more recently with added benefits of aging making correction trickier.
