Old Sew 'n Sew

Old Sew ‘n Sew Update

For several years, I have enjoyed the pastime of sewing and embroidering items to sell in craft shows. I also have the privilege of placing my items in two different stores, The Maker’s Market at Kennedy Mall, in Dubuque and the Riverfront Marketplace & Coffee Shop in Clinton IA.

Over the past few years, as some of you know, I have “played/experimented” with selling my items on-line. I tried Etsy, Shopify, eBay, Facebook, WordPress and one or two other platforms and none of them really amounted to much. That was, in part at least, due to the fact that I wasn’t really trying seriously because I had other “irons in the fire” that required a lot of attention.

Life circumstances would suggest, however, that it is time to make a more serious effort in that arena. In spite of our protestations and denials, we have grown a little more “mature” and with “maturity” comes the need to make some adjustments. Craft shows are no longer as attractive as they once were. We have eliminated outdoor shows due to the rigor involved in setup and take down and being subject to the vicissitudes the weather. These days, our plan is to restrict Old Sew ‘n Sew shows to those that I can do with Linda as she sells her NORWEX products. We are also faced with likelihood of needing to rely, in part, on sales to supplement our income.

This month, I am launching a serious effort at selling on line. I’ll be using a platform that allows me to construct my own e-store and link it, for promotional purposes and information, with my current Old Sew ‘n Sew Facebook page and other social media platforms.

I am currently populating my e-store with available inventory items (bowl cozies, mug rugs, potato bags, plastic bag dispensers, decorative towels, and more). New inventory will be added as I am able to produce it. At a future date my plan is to add, from other sources, other related items which complement the ones I make myself.

My hope is that many of our friends & family, including our FB friends, will check out the store and perhaps become a satisfied customer. Follow us on FB to keep apprised of new products, sales and special offers. And, finally, share and promote the store with those in you sphere of acquaintances thereby increasing the exposure it has with the general public.
