Life is Funny

I’m Depressed!

At the end of May, my doctor told me I had to loose 100 lbs.   That was a shock to the system in more than one way.  No more chowing down on chocolate chip cookies, no more making sandwiches out of porkchops, meatloaf, round steak, chicken breasts and anything else on my plate that resembled meat.  No more bagels and cream cheese with bearclaw chasers.  No more cherry desserts, no more peach desserts, no more of Charissa’s wonderful kitchen productions.

Well … I toughed it out and as of today I’ve lost 29 lbs of the 100 and have been feeling pretty good.  The secret?  Atkins controlled carb diet and some exercise thrown in.  I’ve never been able to loose weight and not be hungry all the time until Atkins.  We found a wonderful website (e-Diets.com) that makes the menus, the shopping list for each week with just a few clicks.  I was happy.  I was content.  I was getting skinny … well … skinnier.

Today e-diets warned me that they are snipping my lifeline on August 26.  They will not be doing Atkins anymore but rather something called a glycemic impact diet.  Well I was appalled!  First of all, “Atkins” sounds so fashionable when people ask “what are you using.”  Much more cool than “Oh I’m using the glycemic impact diet”  That almost sounds like I use some kind of torture device to pummel my body!  It also sounds very medical, like there is something radically wrong with me that needs to be fixed (no comments here please).

When they snip that lifeline I don’t know if I will be able to avoid the feeling of being adrift again on the sea of fat cells, riding the foaming waves of futility in weight-loss.  Like I said, “I’m Depressed” … sigh.  Can anybody help me?

Hi! Someone just sent note of your blog’s article on worship — good! Later I read your note asking for any help on diet — hopefully you have it resloved by now! If not, I can recommend a low carb diet that is well done — I have been on it for about ten years. It is at http://www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com. They have a strict one for weight loss and a liberal for maintenance. Blessings! Donna Wohlfert
