The Man in the Dress Shop
December 17, 2011
Accompanied Sweetness and Beauty this morning, as she went shopping at here in Williamsburg. While she was browsing I discovered the jewelry department where they had lots of jewelry on sale for 60% off.
There I was, the only man in the store, browsing through the jewelry, moving things from one place to another. I could see the woman behind the counter keeping a watchful eye on my and knew she was wondering what kind of weird person I was and whether I was stuffing my pockets. While I picked through the jewelry I eavesdropped on a conversation in which the two women behind the counter were discussing what they were doing for Christmas. I was amazed at the “itinerary” of one of the women.
Birth Mom, then Step Mom, then Dad, followed by Ex-husband’s family and then Boy Friend’s family. I was exhausted!!!! It made me glad that my Christmas schedule is rather simple with those whom I love, and who love me.
When we were ready to check out, I picked up my 16 pieces of jewelry and asked the older of the two sales persons, ‘Do you have the authority to give me an even greater discount if I purchase all these items?” Linda rebuked me by interrupting me and saying, “This is a regular store, Tim not a ….). While she fished for the right word the sales person provided it: “Fleamarket”.
I smiled and said, “it doesn’t hurt to ask.” The lady gave me an additional 10% (70% off total). We’ll be selling the jewelry soon at the Jeweled Page. There’s nothing listed there right now but will be soon!
Time to go, soon, with Mitch and his family to Circa 21 Dinner Theater.
