Cute Kitties, Itty Bitty Spiders, and a Naked Adam

photoOne of the things this Grampy enjoys doing with his grand-daughters is snuggling on the sofa (usually in the morning) and responding to the request, “I want to watch kittys” (from Margo), or “I want to watch Kids songs” (from Lucy).  And so, Grampy will pull out his computer, go to YouTube and find videos of cute kitties, or ones with endless letter, number, color ditties or old kid’s songs like “Itsy bitsy spider”, “Twinkle, twinkle little star” (Did you know that this tune is based on a passage written by Mozart and is the same tune for the Alphabet Song and Baa Baa Black Sheep?  Neither did I!).  Whether it is the early hour or the ennui of the songs, I usually end up occasionally dozing while they watch.

This past weekend I decided to find something different to show them, if I could pique their interest.  I found “The Beginner’s Bible”  It is a video Bible on the child’s level.  I downloaded it to my computer and tried it with Lucy the next morning.  She sat and watched for 20 minutes as we heard the account of the Creation and the Fall.  She participated in calling out the names of the animals before Adam did.  That part was accompanied by a catchy song.  She was a little concerned about the fact that Adam had no clothes on and pointed that out to me in a whisper.  The four-hour segment that I downloaded takes us through the fall of Jericho.  I hope I can find the portion(s) following that and collect the entire Bible.  If you find them, please let me know where in case I haven’t succeeded.

We’ll probably still be watching cute kitties, and we’ll still sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider, but this Grampy will also be inserting portions of God’s word for these little ones to absorb 😉
