Max and Hector

bor·ing – /ˈbôriNG/ adjective – not interesting; tedious.
There are seasons in life when we are apt to bemoan the fact that things have grown boring. Things have become hum-drum and routine with little surprise and none of the unexpected. It’s not a happy state of affairs … usually. Medically speaking, I am in one of those seasons and I am reveling in it! For several days now, there have been no surprises, no twists or turns, no significant changes! It’s glorious! I’m still stuck with Hector (the tumor under my arm) and we have added Max (the diverticulum that led to a perforated bowel). Surgeon says that he (Max) is well healed but may be susceptible to recurrence. The surgeon may be well heeled as well but it’s hard to tell when he’s in scrubs. He suggested that Max and Hector could hang out together. I’m not excited about that idea and would just as soon that they both leave but it is not within my power to banish them. So, we try to keep Max as comfortable as possible and make Hector as uncomfortable as possible. I can live with Max … I can’t live with Hector! So at present we maintain course and say, “Steady as she goes!” That means we continue the thyroid treatment and the immunotherapy infusions. I am still very weak and have no endurance but that has improved slightly and I’ve gained some weight back so that’s all good!
Someone brought my sewing machine upstairs and so I’ve been able to do some sewing (good therapy) and am walking around a bit more. Physical therapy for building strength is on the near horizon.
Please continue to pray for me, for Linda and for my medical team. The cards and notes of encouragement, and the knowledge that you are praying are a great source of blessing!

April 2, 2024 at 5:48 pmYou and Linda are in our prayers every day. We know what it is like to have so much going on as Joe has had several surgeries and immunotherapy infusions in the last 3 years. But God is faithful and has brought us through and will do the same for you. Thanks for keeping us updated. God be with you!
