Tin Foil Hats?

I really like my current cell phone (HTC Droid).  I do not like the fact that my cell phone is a spy.  According to an article in the Atlantic Wire, my phone has some software on it that secretly records and transmits my every keystroke (including text messages).

“The reason for this invasive Android app seems reasonable enough at face value. Even though it’s on most Android, BlackBerry and Nokia devices, most users would never know that Carrier IQ is running in the background, and that’s sort of the point. Described on the company’s website as software to gain “unprecedented insight into their customers’ mobile experience,” Carrier IQ is ostensibly supposed to help mobile carriers and device manufacturers gather data in order to improve their product.”

Not long ago, my oldest son was concerned about garden gnomes and reconnaissance rabbits in his neighborhood.  He and his family and friends were wearing tin-foil hats to thwart the “mind control” powers of those operatives.

Perhaps it’s time to put a tin-foil hat on my phone?

I highly value personal privacy and share some serious concerns about the ways in which it is increasingly encroached upon by “big brother” wherever he may be found.

There is, however, One who needs no hidden software in order to exercise His right to monitor my every action, thought and word.  God claims that right as my Creator and He monitors the keystrokes of my life each day.  We would all do well to be much more concerned about what He sees and hears than we are about any other who may be monitoring our lives.

He is the one who knows the thoughts and intents of the heart.  He is the one who sees all … He sees me … He sees YOU … and there is no such thing as a tin-foil hat to block that view.  I’m actually thankful for the fact that I cannot thwart His view of my life.  It’s not always comfortable, for there are many times that I’m ashamed of what He sees.  It is, however, comforting to know that He DOES see, and thus He knows me well … warts and all … and still loves me.  But even more … He knows my needs and has promised to meet them.

I am not worried about my phone spying on me …. now … Garden Gnomes and Reconnaissance Rabbits? …. that’s another matter entirely!!!!
