Ah Me …

I’m tired!  It’s dark here and my body is just this side of  being in need of resuscitation.  That said, it’s been a good day!  We got 300′ of trench cut at a depth of 14-16″.  The big job now is to move the dirt and I moved about 90 feet of it before it got dark.  I’m glad for reinforcements arriving tomorrow.

Speaking of reinforcements … Linda has been selling the sofa and love seat behind my back; advertising it by word of mouth apparently.  I was out digging dirt and hauling it away and the phone rings:

  • Hello?
  • Hi!  I’m calling about the furniture you have for sale ….. ___________told me to call
  • I thought for a moment and tried to remember if I had forgotten we were selling furniture and then said, “What?”
  • Yeah ____________ said that you had a couch and love seat for sale.
  • Light bulb went on …. Linda did say something about that a couple days ago …”Uh yeah …. my wife mentioned that”
  • Could you text us some pictures of the furniture
  • Well … not right now, I’m digging dirt, how about later?

Long story short, they decided to drive over and look at it.  They liked it … they want it …. I said, “What are you doing tomorrow?  If you want to come shovel dirt for a couple of hours I’ll let you have it for nothing” – Bottom Line:  I think he might!!!

Had to go to store for some bananas.  Was getting some serious cramps in my hands and forearms so right now I’m pushing potassium (bananas) and drinking lots of water to hydrate.  Of course, if you push too many bananas that can create other problems which we won’t mention here.

Ice Cream man came up the street this afternoon as I was getting about to my limit.  They still have ice-cream trucks in Dubuque.  I only had 2.00 and wanted an ice-cream sandwich.  The guy took pity on me and let me have a 2.50 ice-cream sandwich for my 2.00 because “he was in a good mood”.  I came to the back yard, sat down on the ground next to Noelle.  I took the chocolate top off and she proceeded to eat the ice-cream.  It was half gone by the time I put the chocolate top back on and ate the rest of it while she sat there licking her paws and washing her face.  It was a “bonding moment”.  She has been displaced from her usual territory by all the excavation and I felt as though it was appropriate to give her a treat for being so good about it.  🙂
