Sprouts

All the world is God’s own field, fruit unto His praise to yield;
Wheat and tares together sown unto joy or sorrow grown.
First the blade and then the ear, then the full corn shall appear;
Lord of harvest, grant that we wholesome grain and pure may be.

Today my daily inspection of my vegetable garden was rewarded by the appearance of the first green sprouts!  Just four days after being planted, those tiny seeds have begun to demonstrate the amazing power of our creative God and the promise of a harvest to come.  I’m delighted as I anticipate more and more evidence as each day goes by and I can already taste the salad!

Part of my garden is fenced off with rabbit fence.  Last year we treated the local rabbits to the tender bean sprouts and they made no bones about eating them all.  So we got no beans to speak of.  This year, we plan a different outcome.  For every rabbit who happens by the beans WILL be green and healthy on the other side of the fence.  My honey the weeding machine was at work this evening … no clump of weeds is safe with her around.  She insisted on exorcising all of my bull-thistles along with the dandelions and such.

The Hill Hostas look beautiful having been freshly mulched.  Tomorrow I’m going to plant some moon-flowers; flowers that only bloom at night apparently.  We will have to plan a night to watch them!  🙂
