Known popularly as Les Paul, the visionary musician who was a pioneer in the introduction of the solid body electric guitar, died today at the age of 94. His innovations were instrumental (ah … wonderful pun) in the evolution of music into early rock and roll. I can remember listening to old records of him accompanying Mary Ford on the guitar as she sang songs like “How High the Moon” and “Vaya con Dios My Darling”. Such music is a treat to listen to even today! My first “real” guitar was a Gibson Les Paul model. I remember just a few years ago seeing a video of him still playing at the age of 90 years. An amazing man with a wonderful talent! I salute his memory!
